The Wild Catch Barramundi Fishery is currently facing increasing problems in relation to market acceptability, surplus production and also variable product quality.
The recent Landline program on the ABC magnified the problem.
The Queensland Seafood Marketers Association has been requested by its members involved with this Fishery to identify if there are possible solutions to addressing some of these problems.
As a Post Harvest Association it has decided to convene a one day workshop in Cairns on Friday June 29th to ascertain what steps can be taken to address these problems.
The Workshop would run in four sections:
1. Identify the Problems
2. What R&D has been done and could be done
3. Presentation of a previous project that successfully addressed similar problems in a similar fishery
4. Discussion on a plan forward with suggested outcomes
